Introduction to Podcasting

Podcasting is a good tool to teach your students new material. Once the podcast is created, students can download it to their iPod or other such device (that they already listen to anyway) and listen to it whenever they wish. They do not have to sit at home or school to have access to their assignments. They can listen to the podcast on their way to or from school or their friends' homes.

To get an idea of what podcasting is, view the following video: Podcasting in Plain English. I would suggest you right click the link and select "Open in new window" so you don't have to lose your current screen.

Please continue to tune in to get more tips and instructions on creating and using podcasts in your classroom. You can also view the podcasts listed under "Podcast Resources & Examples" in the column to your right. Once again, right click the link and select "Open in new window" if you want to maintain the current page and avoid having to press the back arrow several times to get to this page.

Tech Planning at 219

The latest installment of our Tech Planning sessions saw the introduction of a Tech Growth Chart that will track the technology projects and progress of our staff. As our teachers get more and more comfortable with the technology, they will be able to create more interesting lessons that will better engage their students.

We also have a schedule of technology support for those teachers who want one-on-one tutoring on using the Web 2.0 tools. Some teachers have already begun creating some sites for their content areas to store resources and other content-related information. It seems as if we are poised to do some great things in the near future.

Some technology projects our teachers are working on:

Today's Tech Information

At the latest Title IID IC3 workshop, we were treated to an in-depth discussion of the use of Google Docs and other Web 2.0 Tools in an education setting. It is encouraging to know that there is plenty of support in this area and that our staff is taking to using the technology at their disposal to keep themselves organized and improve instruction.

Next steps are to further support staff with the Tech Support Schedule that teachers can find in Google Docs and to provide more training videos for teachers to view on their own. We are in position to push teachers to increase their comfort levels so they may introduce these tools to their students.
